Meet the first athletes supported by our Athlete Impact Fund, from grants and equipment to emergency relief.
In 2025, as Beyond The Finish Line with Star celebrated its first anniversary, a question was born: “How can we move our stories from stories to impact?”
That question gave rise to the Athlete Impact Fund, an initiative that provides financial and developmental support to athletes facing real challenges. The fund focuses on enabling access to proper training, recovery and education, helping young talents move from survival to success.
Our first beneficiaries
Denzel Ngavi (Zimbabwe): a 200m and 400m sprinter who received $1,000 to access treatment and recover from a hamstring injury.
Momodou Lamin Jabbi (The Gambia): a sprinter who received $300 to spend more time training on a proper track in Senegal, and went on to set personal bests in the 100m and 200m.
Promise Amasiatu (Nigeria): an athlete from Port Harcourt who received $300 to process her collegiate documents, and is now studying at Middle Tennessee State University.
Onu Success Onyinyechi (Nigeria): a young athlete who received ₦1.2 million in sponsorship and improved her 400m personal best from 55.89 to 53.48 seconds.
Potential thrives with the right support
Each of these athletes carries a story of faith and determination, proving that potential can thrive when given the right support. Read each athlete's full story on our Stories of Impact page.
